Abraham vs. Froch: Froch and Abraham is going to be one of the most interesting fights of the year. Both fighters like to stand in the middle of the ring, exchange punches and use it to dominate. Froch has said that he will follow Dirrell’s blueprint to beat Abraham. While Froch doesn’t possess the same slick talent of Dirrell, he may be able to frustrate Abraham enough to make him lose the intelligence and focus needed to win. Froch’s chin and jab will allow him to outlast Abraham. Abraham is a hard puncher, but I don’t feel he has the mental control, especially coming off a loss, to dominate Froch in this fight. I think we will be surprised. Froch lacks speed, but he’ll make up for it in power, as well as mentally. Froch by UD
Ward vs. Bika : Bika is a strong opponent and is hungry to win against an elite fighter such as Andre Ward. Bika will certainly give Ward a fight. However, Ward is too skilled for Bika to have ever prepared for Ward and an easy win. Ward can always bring something different. Ward just pulls out the skills he needs on the night of the fight, depending who he’s fighting. He adjusts well, and tonight will not be different. He has the confidence and mind control to do what has to be done to get the win. Ward is a competitor. Without knowing a tremendous amount about Bika, it is hard to predict how Ward will win. Bika has a few more fights on his record than Ward, but he has lost 4 and has 2 draws compared to the undefeated Andre Ward. I definitely give the win to Ward by UD
Marquez vs. Katsidis: Marquez is no doubt a talented and great fighter that has seen his share of battles, in this case, too many battles may be what will hold him back from the win. Katsidis has been underestimated in the past, he’s a hard puncher and knows how to box, I like his quick in and out style. He has the passion and physical prowess to get the win over Marquez. Katsidis has trained hard for this one. He is focused and has dedicated his heart to this fight. I have Katsidis by split decision.
Berto vs. Hernandez: Andre Berto is one of the most talented fighters in boxing, inherently gifted. I think now that he has had some time off to work on his focus, he will be even better than before. Berto will be able to easily dominate in this fight. Freddy has some solid wins on his resume, but his fights are often filled with fouls. Hernandez should keep it clean, box, and use his height if he wants to have a shot against Berto, but Hernandez likes to trade punches, which I see Berto accepting the invitation, spelling trouble for Hernandez. I also think Berto’s foot and hand speed will be too much for Hernandez. I think with Andre Berto back in action, the best is yet to come for this fighter that is truly skilled and not just hype as some may say. He will prove that he’s a force to be reckoned with.
