Kurt Warner Says: Ben Roethlisberger isn’t Hall of Fame Worthy

Kurt Warner needs to take a nap.

Despite the fact that Ben Roethlisberger has a 10-2 playoff record with two Super Bowls wins under his belt and a chance to win his third this Sunday. Kurt Warner doesn’t think that Big Ben is a Hall of Famer right now or if he wins his third Super Bowl this Sunday.

For reals Kurt!?

Yesterday Warner went on the Gambo and Ash Show on 620 KSTAR in Phoenix to see why Gambadoro said he would choose Roethlisberger over Warner if he had to choose between the two.

While on the show Warner was asked if he thought Big Ben belonged in the Hall of Fame.

Warner answered the question by saying that he doesn’t feel that winning championships alone should get someone into the Hall of Fame, and gave his opinion on what type of player he feels belongs in the Hall of Fame.

Warner –

“I believe that this era has become about winning championships for a quarterback. But I just look at it from the fact that the best players to ever play this game belong in the Hall of Fame. And I’m not saying he won’t be that guy. But I’m not sure he’s there yet.

I’m not sure if he just wins this game if that classifies him as one of the best to ever play the game.”

Warner then shunned Big Ben’s playoff record and jewelry by saying that it will take more than that to get him into the Hall of Fame.

Warner –

“I like Ben, I think Ben’s great and I think he’s a winner. And to me that speaks volumes for your legacy. But when you’re talking about the best quarterbacks in the league, you have to look at all the factors here.

I mean, he won a Super Bowl and he was 8-23. But he won the Super Bowl and he gets that on his resume. But he was still 8-23.”

Warner went further to say that even though Ben has never been given the chance to carry his team for long stretches, the fact that he has never done so makes Ben not Hall of Fame worthy in his eyes.

Warner –

“I’m just waiting to see Ben as the guy that carries his team at some point in time. The fortunate thing for him is he hasn’t had to do that. He carries them in the last two minutes. He makes some key plays. (He’s) phenomenal out of the pocket and ad-libbing. But for me, if you go to the Hall of Fame, you have to be a guy who can carry your team week in and week out as a quarterback. That’s my opinion.”

After babbling complete nonsense for several minutes, Warner said that if Ben could prove that he can carry his team for a few seasons that Ben would be a “no-brainer” to make the H.O.F.

I am sorry, but Kurt is way off base in his assessment of Big Ben. If Ben was to retire today he would be a Hall of Famer and to even question that is ridiculous.

Terry Bradshaw never had to carry his team and he is in the H.O.F.

Like I said in the beginning of this article, Kurt Warner needs to go take a nap.

Ironic considering most people debate whether Warner is a Hall of Famer.

We all knew Kurt Warner was righteous but with comments like these, it sounds like Kurt Warner is slowly becoming the Curt Schilling of the NFL.

Can't wait to read his blog.
